This is a collection of copies of Hartman family papers include: copy of family information from the family Bible, Jan. 4, 1886; receipts for purchases and taxes; correspondence and balance sheets from the Nisqually Mill Company. The correspondence includes letters from James McAllister, an early pioneer of Thurston County, WA. There are letters from friends and family from all over Washington State.

David E. Hartman was born Sept. 4, 1850 in Des Moines, IA to William and Martha (Parker) Hartman. William and Martha were married Sept. 4, 1827. They had 7 seven children: John W., b. 1828; Washington, b. 1831; Elizabeth Jane, b. 1833; Joseph, b. 1826; Margart [sic] Ann, b. 1845; Lavinia D., b. 1847 and David E., b. 1850. The four eldest children were baptized into the Methodist Episcopalian Church in Mansfield, Richland, OH in 1838. David E. Hartman left in May 1867 and arrived in Nisqually, WA...
